Field Engineering Technician

Description

We are searching for a Field Engineering Technologist to join our diverse and fast-paced organization. As a core team member, you will interact with other electric utility disciplines, performing field inspections, engineering design work, and calculations. You will coordinate with permit agencies, right‑of‑way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and third‑party owners for joint‑owned poles. Additionally, you will provide engineering support during construction, including post‑construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met, and conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.

The selected candidate will work for our contractor for approximately six months with the possibility of converting to a direct employee afterward.

The ideal candidate will be within a commutable distance to Harrisburg or State College, PA, and will commute to customer sites in the region.

• Review work provided by the client and assess requirements of scopes.
• Provide engineering support during construction, including post‑construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
• Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and return to the office to perform engineering design work.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; six months or more of prior relevant experience, coursework, or projects considered.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; one year or more of prior relevant experience. Associate's Degree or higher in engineering technology or related field preferred.
• Ability to walk at least one mile, swing a 3‑lb hammer, and perform field work on a daily basis.
• Willingness to perform both field and office work.
• Ability to work independently and in a team to organize work and meet deadlines.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Pay Range: $35,100.00 – $63,450.00.
