Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures and respond to patient questions. Perform diagnostic procedures for patients as ordered by physicians.

• Education:
  
  High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Experience:
  
  One year of experience preferred performing radiological procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Knowledge of radiologic equipment, procedures, and safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement.
• Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively, and to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions and procedures.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and perform simple adjustments.

• Registered with the ARRT in Radiology.
• Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.

• Performs patient care/technical duties and procedures accurately and timely.
• Greets each patient pleasantly, checks two identifiers (Name and Date of Birth), and explains the procedure in patient‑friendly terms.
• Reviews requests and evaluates orders for appropriate exams and diagnoses.
• Prepares and positions patients for examinations, determining and using proper technique for each view.
• Takes correct views, operates CR, Fluoro, and DR rooms safely and efficiently, and operates CR readers and printers.
• Performs proper startup and shutdown of equipment, transfers images to PACS, scans documents, and routes images.
• Changes priority to “STAT” or “URGENT” when necessary.
• Assists the Radiologist and/or Fluoro Tech during fluoroscopic and special procedure examinations.
• Moves portable radiographic equipment for various procedures in Emergency Dept., Operating Room, PACU, and Nursing departments.
• Uses proper sterile technique during examinations in the operating room and other radiology procedures.
• Prepares IV and oral contrast media, administers contrast as needed, and documents reaction steps.
• Documents patient symptoms, history, imaging limitations, date, time of study, and technologist initials in PACS.
• Performs other related technical patient care duties as assigned, maintains room assignments, keeps work area clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates radiation safety practices, promotes ALARA standards, and escorts patients throughout department or hospital.
• Provides excellent customer service to patients, staff, and others.
• Performs clerical duties efficiently and accurately, monitors workflow with PACS, image release, and CD burner.
• Assists in office functions and performs office tasks during off‑shifts.
• Complies with quality assurance duties and explains policies and procedures to radiology students as directed.

• Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
