Job Summary
Staff Today is seeking a travel Radiology Technologist for a travel job in State College, Pennsylvania.

Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures and respond to patient questions. Perform diagnostic procedures for patients as ordered by physicians.
Minimum Requirements- Education:
High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). - Experience:
One year of experience preferred performing radiological procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Knowledge of radiologic equipment, procedures, and safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement.
- Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively, and to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions and procedures.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and perform simple adjustments.
- Registered with the ARRT in Radiology.
- Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
- Performs patient care/technical duties and procedures accurately and timely.
- Greets each patient pleasantly, checks two identifiers (Name and Date of Birth), and explains the procedure in patient‑friendly terms.
- Reviews requests and evaluates orders for appropriate exams and diagnoses.
- Prepares and positions patients for examinations, determining and using proper technique for each view.
- Takes correct views, operates CR, Fluoro, and DR rooms safely and efficiently, and operates CR readers and printers.
- Performs proper startup and shutdown of equipment, transfers images to PACS, scans documents, and routes images.
- Changes priority to “STAT” or “URGENT” when necessary.
- Assists the Radiologist and/or Fluoro Tech during fluoroscopic and special procedure examinations.
- Moves portable radiographic equipment for various procedures in Emergency Dept., Operating Room, PACU, and Nursing departments.
- Uses proper sterile technique during examinations in the operating room and other radiology procedures.
- Prepares IV and oral contrast media, administers contrast as needed, and documents reaction steps.
- Documents patient symptoms, history, imaging limitations, date, time of study, and technologist initials in PACS.
- Performs other related technical patient care duties as assigned, maintains room assignments, keeps work area clean and orderly.
- Demonstrates radiation safety practices, promotes ALARA standards, and escorts patients throughout department or hospital.
- Provides excellent customer service to patients, staff, and others.
- Performs clerical duties efficiently and accurately, monitors workflow with PACS, image release, and CD burner.
- Assists in office functions and performs office tasks during off‑shifts.
- Complies with quality assurance duties and explains policies and procedures to radiology students as directed.
- Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
