Overview
The Information Technology Services Office of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking undergraduate students to work across a variety of information technology disciplines including, but not limited to, computing support, networking, systems administration, helpdesk support, and cybersecurity. ARL is an authorized DoD Skill Bridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
Responsibilities- Assisting with installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and support of computing and network hardware and software
- End-user support
- Assisting in the development of process and equipment documentation; assisting with equipment inventory and auditing
- Answering phones and emails
- Assisting with cybersecurity initiatives
- Technical writing
- Assisting with programming and software development tasks
- Other duties as assigned
Required skills and experience include:
- Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
- Technical writing
Preferred skills and experience include:
- Linux (highly desired)
- Computing Help Desk
- Configuration, installation, programming, and support of network equipment
- Microsoft Windows systems in a domain environment
The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours per week over the summer. Hours will vary. This is a paid part-time position, located at ARL's Main Lab Building on the University Park Campus. Relocation and housing are not provided.
About ARLARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).
