Information System Security Officer (ISSO)
Location:
State College, Pennsylvania. Onsite. U.S. citizenship or eligible for security clearance required. TS/SCI with Poly access required. Must maintain active clearance on day 1.
Job Summary:
Support the cybersecurity team by ensuring compliance with NISPOM Chapter 8, DAAPM, and JSIG policies, performing audits, developing security plans, delivering security training, investigating violations, and collaborating with facility security and government representatives.
- Ensure system compliance and perform regular security audits.
- Develop and maintain security plans and documentation.
- Deliver information systems security education and awareness programs.
- Investigate security violations and prepare reports specifying corrective and preventative actions.
- Collaborate with facility security team, program personnel, and government representatives.
- Perform security sustainment activities, including hardware change management, software change management, account management, media protection, user interface management, and file transfer controls.
Within six months of hire, obtain and maintain a security professional certification at the IAM Level I level (e.g., Security+ or equivalent).
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
University degree and minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.
- Experience in cybersecurity, systems security, or hardening.
- Experience in IT compliance-based auditing using RMF, DCSA Assessment & Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM), Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG), NISPOM, and/or non‑defense regulations such as FAA, PCI, ISO 9001, or HIPAA.
- Experience supporting computer technologies (databases, operating systems, network hardware, software, hardware troubleshooting, electronics).
- Experience in physical security, investigations, or Border Patrol projects; program or office management; senior administration; or account management.
- Familiarity with RMF and compliance as stipulated by NISPOM/DAAPM, JSIG, ICD
503, STIGs, and related NIST publications. - Experience with audit reviews of physical security, network and system event logs, password administration, file access privileges.
- Experience in cyber incident response execution and management, including preservation, containment, and eradication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in documenting evaluation results.
- Experience in DoD classified operating or laboratory environments.
- Experience with National Industrial Security Program cybersecurity training courses.
Salary range: $68,900–$131,100, determined by role, function, and experience.
