Epic Application Analyst – MyChart Portal

State College, PA, United States

Position Summary

The Epic MyChart Application Analyst is a highly technical, fast‑paced and challenging position. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide the very best care for our patients. The Epic MyChart System Analyst supports the functionality of the patient portal under minimal supervision and according to established policy and procedures. The MyChart Analyst performs complex system analysis, design, integration, testing, implementation, maintenance and planning of assigned applications and/or projects.

Directly interacts with assigned department managers and staff to provide automation services in support of the department’s strategic and operational objectives. Plans, coordinates, develops and provides appropriate training for managers and users. Ensures development of training materials, production of continuity workbooks, documentation of standard operating procedures and user checklists. Assists in all upgrade/updates, NOVA note build, testing and demos of new functionality.

Serves as the contact and liaison with user community and vendor. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Mount Nittany Health. Participates in department and hospital task forces, focus groups and/or committees as assigned by their supervisor to meet the group objectives. Off‑hours work and participation in on‑call rotation are required.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Epic Certifications in one or more Epic applications (required within 180 days of hire).
Experience
  • Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and their impact on technical solutions.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment to manage multiple concurrent communication needs.
  • Skill at tracking tasks, defining next steps, identifying owners and holding others accountable.
  • Ability to coordinate activities and facilitate meetings involving multiple stakeholders, including vendors, subject matter experts, interface engine developers and end users.
  • EHR Configuration and Build Experience.
  • 0‑2 years of experience in the analysis, design, build, testing and maintenance of Epic EMR or other EMR applications, with a strong understanding of healthcare workflows related to electronic medical record systems.
  • Entry level. Primarily focuses on basic system configuration, data entry, user training and troubleshooting simple issues, and has foundational knowledge of healthcare processes.

Responsibilities Essential Functions
  • Act as the primary support contact for the application’s end‑users.
  • Identify issues that arise in their application area as well as issues that impact other application teams, and work to resolve them.
  • Guide workflow design, build and test the system, and analyze other technical issues associated with Epic software.
  • Identify and implement requested changes to the system.
  • Serve as a liaison between end users’ workflow needs and Epic implementation staff.
  • Maintain regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings.
  • Work with Epic representatives, your organization’s business community and end users to ensure the system meets the organization’s business needs in regards to the project deliverables and timeline.
  • Develop an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization’s workflows by attending site visits and other integrated sessions.
  • Participate in training and work with end users.
  • Troubleshoot problems and questions.
  • Review the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership.
