Shift Information:
Days - 2 - hour shift and 2 - 12 hour shifts or 3 - 12 hour shifts (36-40 per week) with a call component.
Certifications/Requirements: ACLS, BLS, PALS.
Position SummaryResponsible to the Director of Perioperative Services and Unit Manager or designee for overall nursing practice. Provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge and the American Society of Post Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) Standards during the Post Anesthesia Phase I and Phase II and transfer to the receiving patient care unit. Nursing focus is to transition patients from a fully anesthetized state to a state requiring fewer acute interventions.
This includes use of the nursing process: assessment of patient needs, development of a plan, implementation of interventions, and evaluation of care effectiveness to achieve optimal patient outcomes at discharge from the Post Anesthesia Care Unit for patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric age.
Completion of an accredited registered nurse program.
ExperiencePrevious PACU and Critical Care experience preferred.
