Job Description

The Registered Nurse will assess and respond to the individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients, acting as a patient advocate while delivering high-quality nursing care in a surgical center setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to the individual needs of patients through personal observation and interaction.
• Utilize professional nursing skills and judgment to implement care and address identified problems.
• Communicate patient assessments to ensure coordination of care among healthcare providers.
• Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures including labs, radiology, and EKG; perform IV therapy.
• Transcribe and implement physicians' orders accurately while admitting patients to the surgical center.
• Document clinical records via computer accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance with surgical procedures.
• Provide education and instruction to patients and their families regarding care and procedures.
• Manage supply usage according to policy to control costs while maintaining patient care standards.
• Assist with housekeeping duties as necessary to maintain a clean patient environment.
• If assigned to PACU, provide knowledgeable patient care, monitor vital signs, and evaluate patient status for discharge.
• Understand the transfer process to send patients to the medical center when necessary.
• Maintain communication as a float nurse to assist in various areas, ensuring timely staff relief.
• Work in the pain management and eye laser procedure rooms, assisting with necessary supplies and protocols.
• Participate in committee meetings and provide suggestions for improvements in patient care.
