Job Description

The Registered Nurse in Women and Children's Services is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to childbearing women, neonates, and their families. This role involves assessing health needs, creating care plans, implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating patient outcomes to provide optimal care.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family developmental levels, health status, and history.
• Perform initial assessments and stabilization of neonates.
• Develop individualized care plans based on identified needs.
• Provide education on self-care and newborn care to patients and families.
• Support family dynamics and promote healthy relationships.
• Identify at-risk families and intervene to prevent health problems.
• Promote a safe and healthy environment for reproductive health and recovery.
• Maintain professional knowledge and competencies through continuous education.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of an accredited registered nurse program is required.
• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
• BLS certification, renewed every two years.
• NRP certification, renewed every two years.
• ACLS certification, renewed every two years.
• Experience with EPIC software is mandatory.

This L&D unit welcomes nearly 1,300 babies annually. This makes it the largest unit of its kind in the region, and the hospital has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report and Newsweek for its maternity care. The unit features state-of-the-art technology, family-centered comforts, and a wide range of services, including pediatric care and dedicated pediatric hospitalists.
Unit Description
Private Labor and Delivery Suites:
The unit has six private labor and delivery rooms, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for families. Triage and Surgical Suites:
Two triage rooms and an advanced technology surgical suite are available to handle various medical needs during labor and delivery.
Nurseries:
The unit includes Level I and Level II nurseries for newborn care. Postpartum Rooms:
Eleven private postpartum rooms are available for mothers and their families after delivery.
Family-Centered Design:
The unit features amenities like a private lactation consulting area, cozy family waiting areas, and options for partners, like sofa sleepers and refreshments, to enhance the family's experience.
