Job Description and Position Requirements
The Ozbolat Laboratory in Penn State's College of Engineering has multiple openings for Postdoctoral Scholars in the fields of bioprinting, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. The successful candidates will work on multiple projects funded through National Institutes of Health (NIH) and private foundations. The Postdoctoral Scholars will join a multidisciplinary research laboratory at the Millenium Science Complex, which is part of Huck Institute of Life Sciences.
They will have excellent opportunities to interact and collaborate with researchers within the Institute and with Penn State experts in biomaterials, tissue engineering, stem cells, regenerative therapies, and clinical translation.
- Conduct research on NIH‑funded and foundation‑funded projects related to bioprinting, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the Huck Institute and across Penn State.
- Perform 2D and 3D cell culture, including hydrogel systems.
- Utilize imaging techniques such as TEM, SEM, and confocal microscopy.
- Carry out protein analysis, including immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence.
- Handle laboratory rodents in accordance with institutional guidelines.
- Develop bioprinting protocols and lab‑on‑a‑chip devices.
- Participate in high‑throughput tissue bi‑fabrication studies.
- Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, molecular/cellular/developmental biology, chemistry, or a closely related field, completed by the start date.
- Strong background in molecular biology techniques, 2D and 3D cell culture models (hydrogels), imaging, protein analysis, and rodent handling.
- Specific skills in bioprinting and lab‑on‑a‑chip device development, as well as high‑throughput tissue bi‑fabrication, are advantageous.
