Position Overview
CGNE Postdoctoral Scholar:
Penn State's Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing seeks applicants for the Tressa Nese and Helen Diskevich Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence's Postdoctoral Fellowship. Preference will be given to applicants with research interests related to aging and geriatrics, including age‑friendly care, dementia, well‑being of care partners, cognitive and physical functioning, delirium, stigma, workforce preparation, technological innovations, and person‑centered care.
Successful candidates will be paired with faculty mentors, conduct research projects, pursue independent research, and engage in professional development. Fellowship lasts one year with possible renewal for a second year based on progress and funding availability.
Eligibility and Qualifications- PhD prepared nurses (or related field) within two years of degree completion preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to scholarship in aging, geriatrics, and/or gerontology.
- Area of interest aligned with at least one faculty mentor at the Center.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity with research publications.
- Strong motivation to develop an independent research career.
- Open to U.S. citizens and international applicants satisfying visa requirements.
- Applicants from underrepresented groups encouraged.
- Co‑create an Individual Development Plan with the primary mentor.
- Refine career goals and grant development skills.
- Extend research agenda through grant applications, manuscripts, and presentations.
- Participate in mentor’s current research initiatives.
- Develop teaching and mentoring skills.
- Expand research skills and methodological expertise.
- Contribute to the Nese College of Nursing and CGNE.
