Position overview
A Postdoctoral Scholar appointment is available in the Lopez-Uribe lab () at The Pennsylvania State University to work on an NSF-funded project investigating sensory biology evolution in pollinators. The position focuses on genome assembly and annotation, and the detection of signatures in olfactory gene receptors. The postdoc is expected to complete the work and disseminate results via peer-reviewed publications within the term of the appointment.
There are opportunities to be involved in engagement and outreach activities related to this project. Strong bioinformatic skills and a record of publications are required, along with demonstrated ability to work well in teams and mentor students.
- Lead genome assembly and annotation for project-related datasets.
- Detect and interpret signatures in olfactory gene receptors and related pathways.
- Complete research work and disseminate findings via peer-reviewed publications within the appointment period.
- Engage in outreach activities to transfer research outputs to broader audiences.
- Collaborate with graduate and undergraduate students and contribute to grant writing as part of the team.
- Ph.D. in biology, evolutionary biology, bioinformatics, or related fields by the appointment date.
- Strong bioinformatics skills and experience analyzing genomic data.
- Evidence of a solid publication record and experience working in teams; mentoring experience is desirable.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Ability to begin work at Penn State in University Park, PA.
