Position SummaryThe AV Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment used in meetings, banquets, and special events at the property. This role ensures all technical aspects of events run smoothly and meets the needs of guests, clients, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is organized, tech‑savvy, and delivers service with a calm, professional demeanor under pressure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Set up and test AV equipment for meetings, conferences, and events (e.g., projectors, microphones, speakers, lighting, laptops).
- Operate audio‑visual systems during events, ensuring quality and uninterrupted service.
- Troubleshoot technical issues on the spot with professionalism and efficiency.
- Liaise with clients and event organizers to understand and fulfill AV requirements.
- Coordinate with Banquet and Sales teams to interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and room diagrams for accurate AV setup.
- Ensure equipment is properly stored, maintained, and secured after use.
- Monitor and inventory AV supplies, reporting maintenance or replacement needs.
- Assist with room setups as needed, including staging and minor lighting adjustments.
- Adhere to all safety and operational policies, including electrical safety and equipment handling procedures.
- 1‑2 years of experience in AV services, event technology, or related hospitality roles.
- Working knowledge of AV systems including microphones, mixers, projectors, video conferencing, and lighting.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Professional appearance and demeanor with a commitment to guest service.
- Experience with hybrid/virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams, Web Ex).
- Familiarity with ballroom lighting controls and digital signage systems.
- Technical certification in AV or IT is a plus.
- Fast‑paced hospitality setting involving frequent guest interaction.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working with technical equipment for extended periods.
- Some work may occur in darkened or high‑volume settings depending on event needs.
