Java Software Engineer II; on-site

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications for Satellite Ground Systems.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers to deliver reliable, high‑performance software solutions.
• Design, implement, and test Java‑based applications and components.
• Work with and modify existing codebases as necessary.
• Ensure software performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities.
• Contribute to program and project milestones under the guidance of the immediate supervisor.
• Follow established software processes and procedures, including development, documentation, and maintenance of operations concepts, requirements, and interfaces.
• Stay current with advances in Java and satellite technology to drive innovation.

• Active, transferable TS/SCI U.S. government‑issued security clearance (prior to start date).
• U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance).
• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in object‑oriented software design and development.
• Proficiency in Java within a Linux environment.
• Experience with unit testing tools such as JUnit.
• Prefer experience with Python, Agile development, and Dev Ops tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins).
• Familiarity with JIRA, Git, Bit Bucket, and Gradle.
• Certifications:
  
  Current Security+ certification preferred.
• Experience with the Atlassian tool suite.
• Experience with satellite communication systems and protocols is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices, especially in defense or aerospace settings.
