Position Overview
We are searching for a motivated and talented Software Engineer to join the Comprehensive Software Solutions (CSS) Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. CSS applies a wide variety of software concepts, techniques, and languages to solve challenging problems for ARL's sponsors as well as internally for ARL needs.
Responsibilities- Work closely with a team to develop applications to best fit project needs
- Maintain version tracking and code documentation
- Support field testing, including remote or in-person troubleshooting of software systems
- Rigorously test applications and write unit tests, if required for the project
- Programming in C/C++, C#, Java, or Python
- Use of version tracking tools – Jira, Git
- Creativity in problem solving
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- A degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
- Embedded software development
- Graphical user interface development
- Current eligibility for access to classified information at the TS/SCI level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required
Your working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA. This position may also require periodic travel to remote locations in support of testing.

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. ARL operates in a secure information environment involving Unclassified, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and Classified information.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $92,100.00 – $.
