Java Developer
In the Senior Java Software Engineering role, you will design, develop, and test Java code in a Linux, Agile, Dev Ops environment. Your work will support the Satellite Ground Systems Team, ensuring reliable communication, surveillance, and defense capabilities through advanced satellite systems. This onsite position is located in State College, PA.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications for satellite ground systems.
- Collaborate closely with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions.
- Design, implement, and test Java‑based applications and components, including unit testing with tools such as JUnit.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
- Modify and enhance existing code as needed.
- Ensure software performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities.
- Contribute to program and project milestones under guidance of the immediate supervisor.
- Follow established software processes, procedures, documentation, and maintenance/management of operational concepts and interfaces.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in Java and satellite technology to drive innovation.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in object‑oriented software design and development using Java in a Linux environment.
- Experience with unit testing tools such as JUnit.
- Experience working in an Agile/Dev Ops environment.
- Typically a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
- Experience with Ansible, Jenkins, containers, and the Spring Framework.
- Experience with cloud technology (AWS).
- Security+ certification.
- Experience using the Atlassian tool suite.
- Experience with satellite communication systems and protocols.
- Familiarity with secure coding practices in a defense or aerospace setting.
