Assistant to the A/C of Ferry Engineering
The Staten Island Ferry Division is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clerical IV to serve as Executive Assistant to the Assistant Commissioner of Ferry Engineering. This position plays a key role in supporting the administrative and operational functions of the division and requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Responsibilities include providing executive-level administrative support to the Assistant Commissioner and the entire Ferry Engineering Unit. This includes maintaining and organizing files, reports, and official records, assisting in tracking and managing Unit Capital and Expense budgets, preparing and editing technical and administrative documents, and monitoring and maintaining contract documentation and reports related to ongoing operations.
Preferred qualifications include advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams); knowledge of New York City budgeting, contracting, and procurement processes; and strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both internal personnel and departments and external stakeholders, such as suppliers/vendors and governmental agencies.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
