Job DescriptionUnited Activities Unlimited, Inc. (UAU) is a Staten Island-based community organization providing youth development, education, and community support services. The School Monitor supports Beacon, Cornerstone, COMPASS, and SONYC after school programs by maintaining safety, order, and security during program hours. This role focuses on supervising common areas such as hallways, stairwells, and restrooms to ensure a safe and orderly environment for youth participants and staff while supporting overall program operations.
RequiredJob Qualifications
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· High School Diploma or GED required
· Matriculated college student or higher from an accredited college or university preferred
· One or more years of experience working with adolescents preferred
· One or more years of experience in a school-based setting
· Commitment to working from a strength-based perspective
· Cultural competence and the ability to effectively engage diverse populations
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively
· Willingness to take initiative and demonstrate flexibility
· Must pass required reference checks and background clearances as required by DOH, DOE, DYCD, and UAU
· Ability to work both indoors and outdoors based on operational needs and weather conditions
· Ability to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally run based on program needs
· May require prolonged standing and walking during scheduled hours
· Ability to remain in a stationary position for portions of the day
· Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information
· Ability to observe details at close range
