Duties Description POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
The Developmental Assistant I position will assist the Developmental Assistant III with duties that support the Day Habilitation program with its operations to help individuals live meaningful and richer lives. Incumbent will also fill gaps in coverage needs.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:
* Monitor internal controls for the day program, such as Environmental Checks, Safe Patient Handling Forms, Mealtime Observations, etc.
* Collaborate with program Team to ensure TABS billing is completed
* Maintain tracking for SLMS, trainings, etc.
* Supervises Direct Support Assistants and other direct care staff in the care, treatment, and habilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
* Various duties, as assigned. These may include tasks such as ordering/purchasing supplies, creating/maintaining system, organizing/maintaining information, creating protocols within the program, etc.
* Provide coverage for the other supervisors as needed
* Responds to crisis situations and medical emergencies following established guidelines, procedures, and first-aid techniques. May assist in developing residential program budgets; advocate and communicate with parents, schools, local businesses, and/or community groups; and provide information to promote a better understanding of individuals' needs.
ADITIONAL COMMENTS:
A proficiency in computer skills is integral to this position.

Minimum Qualifications Promotion: one year of service as a Direct Support Assistant (all parenthetics), Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, or Licensed Practical Nurse, and completion of a one-year traineeship.
The position may be filled at the Developmental Assistant Trainee level equated to SG-11 or full performance Developmental Assistant 1 level equated to SG-12 based on education and experience. Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance level following the successful completion of the traineeship.
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Developmental Assistant Trainee:
High school or high school equivalency diploma and one year of experience in the care, treatment, and habilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Developmental Assistant 1:
High school or high school equivalency diploma and two years of experience in the care, treatment, and habilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
70.1 TRANSFER:
One year of service as a Direct Support Assistant (all parenthetics), Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, or Licensed Practical Nurse, and completion of a one-year traineeship.
