Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) assists the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Services Department. The ADON ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care operations and supports the delivery of high-quality resident care. This position works closely with the Administrator, Medical Director, Director of Nursing, and interdisciplinary team to promote clinical excellence, resident safety, and staff development
Full Time 9am-5pm
Rate $130kplus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing daily nursing operations within the facility.
- Support the planning, organization, development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing services and programs.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and facility policies and procedures.
- Monitor the quality of resident care and implement improvements as needed.
- Assist with staff supervision, scheduling, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
- Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, and retention of nursing staff.
- Conduct rounds to assess resident care, satisfaction, and nursing performance.
- Support infection prevention and control initiatives and quality assurance programs.
- Assist with surveys, audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Monitor documentation practices to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
- Serve as Acting Director of Nursing when designated.
Qualifications / Education Requirements
- Must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred) from an accredited college or university.
- Must possess a current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related healthcare setting.
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of long-term care regulations, clinical standards, and nursing practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively supervise, motivate, and develop nursing staff.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working in a skilled nursing or long-term care environment is strongly preferred.
- Active RN license in the state of NY
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and transfer residents as needed in accordance with facility policies.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies and perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
