Campus Safety Officer

Campus Safety Officers are responsible for maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Duties include patrolling campus grounds, responding to emergencies, enforcing college policies, and supporting safety education and crime prevention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol & Surveillance: Patrol campus (foot/vehicle), monitor CCTV and access control systems
  • Emergency Response: Respond to calls (medical, fire, behavioral), administer first aid/CPR/AED, assist emergency personnel
  • Policy Enforcement: Enforce college rules, parking regulations, and conduct policies; intervene in disturbances
  • Incident Reporting: Prepare accurate reports on incidents, accidents, and safety concerns
  • Safety Escort Services: Provide after-hours personal safety escorts for students/staff
  • Building Security: Lock/unlock buildings, perform safety checks, ensure alarms are set
  • Customer Service: Serve as a visible and helpful presence, assist with directions, events, and general inquiries

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (Associate's preferred)
  • Valid State Security Guard License (e.g., NYS Guard Card)
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, and work in all weather conditions
