Job SummaryThe Head Cheer Coach / APEX Student-Athlete Development Assistant serves in a dual-role position responsible for leading the Georgia Southern Cheer Program while supporting the APEX(Athletes Preparing for Employment Experiences) Student-Athlete Development Program. This position develops student-athletes through athletic excellence, leadership, career readiness,community engagement, and professional development.
Temporary employees are employed according to departmental need and the length of time will vary by workload and may not exceed 1300 hours worked in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities- Direct all aspects of the Georgia Southern Cheer Program,including recruiting, coaching, practices, game-day operations,travel, scheduling, program administration, and cheer budgetoversight
- Assist with program assessment, event logistics,communications, and campus/community partnerships supportingstudent-athlete success beyond graduation
- Manage assigned student-athlete development portfolios andskill development progressions
- Oversee community engagement projects and serve as the Athletics Department liaison for Student-Athlete Advisory Committee(SAAC) initiatives
- Coordinate APEX workshops, networking opportunities, employer and alumni engagement, and career exploration initiatives
- Support the planning and implementation of career, leadership,and professional development programming for Georgia Southernstudent-athletes
- Represent Georgia Southern Athletics at athletic, campus,alumni, and community events
- Promote academic success, leadership, sportsmanship, and compliance with NCAA, Sun Belt Conference, NCA, and Universitypolicies
- Develop, train, and lead a nationally competitive NCA cheerteam, including preparation for and participation in the NCACollegiate Cheer Championships
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
- Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and relationship-building skills
Preferred Experience
- Collegiate or competitive cheer coaching experience and experience in student-athlete development, higher education, orathletics administration
$30,000
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
