Job Overview
This position will provide coverage in short‑term, surge, and on‑demand situations resulting from military needs, such as post‑deployment events or to cover existing assignments for counselors who are absent. The role includes the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to service members and their families at military installations.
Responsibilities- Provide one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, and presentations to service members and families.
- Consult with commanders or other staff and collaborate with installation and branch Points of Contact to ensure program scope and installation needs are met.
- Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develop and disseminate informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle (arrival at duty station, pre‑ and post‑deployment, and other key events).
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual or electronic modes of communication (web‑based chat, video teleconference) to deliver counseling when authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues.
- Participate in in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned that align with the intent of the position.
- Bachelor’s degree required; an associate degree plus 4 years of experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years of experience, may be considered.
- Minimum 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual English/Spanish may be required by contract.
- Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must successfully complete the OCI process.
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 (annual, based on current national data; may vary by location and individual qualifications)
