Job DescriptionThe Work Study Student will support the Sustainable Aquaponics Research Center as a Lab Assistant on the Savannah Campus beginning Fall 2026. This student position will work in the SARC aquaponics greenhouse and laboratory. Employment is contingent upon funding. Please confirm your Federal Work-Study eligibility with the Office of Financial Aid.
ResponsibilitiesAssists with laboratory and research activities. Monitors research facilities. Performs fish husbandry and care. Maintains and harvests plants. Maintains aquariums. Collects and records data. Performs general maintenance tasks. Completes the IACUC and Right to Know trainings. Up to 15 hours per week. Flexible with schedule of availability.
Required QualificationsMust be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University. Must be Federal Work eligible.
Proposed Salary$12.00 per hour. This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesConsistently exhibit engaging customer service. Ability to support various constituencies served by the University. Proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills.
