Role Description The General Manager Retail and Convenience is a full-time, on-site role based in Statesboro, GA, responsible for overseeing daily operations of retail and convenience locations on campus. This position manages staff scheduling, training, and performance, ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to university policies and standards. The General Manager monitors inventory, ordering, merchandising, and product presentation to maximize sales and minimize waste.
The role includes managing budgets, financial reporting, and tracking key performance metrics to ensure operational efficiency and profitability. The General Manager collaborates with campus partners and vendors, maintains a safe and compliant work environment, and supports strategic initiatives that enhance the student and campus community experience.
Qualifications
- Operational leadership skills in retail or convenience store management, including staff supervision and daily store operations.
- Experience with inventory control, merchandising, and product placement to drive sales and maintain stock accuracy.
- Budget management and basic financial analysis skills, including forecasting, cost control, and reporting.
- Customer service and communication skills for engaging a diverse campus community and resolving concerns effectively.
- Ability to build and lead teams, coach staff, and foster an inclusive, collaborative work environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple locations, priorities, and deadlines.
- Knowledge of safety, health, and compliance standards relevant to retail and food or convenience operations.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office, email, inventory software).
- Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, retail management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience in campus retail, higher education, or multi-unit retail management is preferred.
