Perform routine and semi‑skilled work while assisting skilled workers in maintenance and repairs. Conduct routine and preventive maintenance and repairs for designated buildings, facilities and equipment, ensuring technical operations are in proper running order.
Responsibilities- Replace ballast and lamps in lighting fixtures
- Replace bearings and motors
- Maintain or report supplies and equipment necessary to carry out assignments
- Submit daily report of materials used and time spent on projects
- Follow all safety and risk‑management policies in performance of work
- Maintain, repair and clean tools, equipment and work areas
- Perform preventive maintenance on air compressors
- Perform fire alarm testing and report issues
- Respond to elevator calls
- Monitor campus building automation systems
- Perform a wide variety of miscellaneous mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, and building‑trade tasks in maintenance of buildings and equipment, and in simple construction and fabrication tasks
- Inspect buildings and make repairs as necessary
- Report major maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor
- Respond to emergency calls in assigned areas to repair or determine other actions necessary to resume normal operations
- Replace pumps and filters
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, HVAC, and plumbing issues
- Tighten or change belts
- Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Required Experience:
Two (2) years of related work experience
- Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
- Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
- Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and application software as required for the position
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and work‑order instructions
- Ability to work with power tools and various hand tools
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
- Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet institutional goals and support the University’s mission for student success
- Basic working knowledge of various repair and maintenance tasks, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing
- Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human‑relations skills
- Detail‑oriented
$17.13 - $20.96 per hour (non‑exempt, paid bi‑weekly)
