GRANT FUNDED SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER (K-12)

General Statement of Job:
Enhances the overall academic mission by providing students and families with wraparound coordination targeting students' out-of-school needs, as well as services that address barriers to learning and achievement.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and

Skills:

As required by the state of North Carolina, must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, licensure, and experience providing students with interventions.

Specific

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Working to assist our McKinney-Vento population with resource connections and removing barriers to their education.

* Focus on the attendance/truancy process and remove barriers that are negatively impacting the child's education. Actively engage parents in their child's education and mitigate negative impacts on students' attendance.

* Remains current with school-based intervention research and uses evidence-informed practices in service delivery. Interventions shall be designed to enhance positive educational experiences and will involve the student, the family, other team members, school personnel, and community resources as needed.

* Provides crisis intervention services related to family violence, substance abuse, and behavioral disorders.

* Engages in advocacy that seeks to ensure that all students have equal access to education and services to enhance their academic progress. Conducts assessments and evaluations in accordance with family and student rights.

* Develop appropriate short- and long-term intervention plans that are consistent with the curriculum; students' needs, strengths, and life experiences; and social and emotional factors for students, families, schools, and communities.

* Serves on school-level MTSS teams with SBMH providers. Provides evidence-based interventions.

* Promotes family support of students' learning experience within the context of multicultural understanding and competencies.

* Assists students and families in accessing community resources.

* Supports, consults with, and collaborates with SBMH Therapists to address barriers and gaps.

* Works with internal and external individuals, groups, and organizations to develop programs or systems of care that enhance the health, social, and emotional well-being, and safety of students.
