We are seeking an experienced Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our newly formed Advanced Technologies Group. This role focuses on architecting and building the production ML systems that will give Legacy Motor Club a competitive edge on race day—real-time strategy optimization, predictive modeling, and decision support tools used by our engineers and strategists every Sunday.

This is a builder role, not a research role. You will own the end-to-end development of ML systems that directly influence race outcomes. The right person sees systems, not just projects—building a platform where strategy tools, pit crew analytics, and engineering AI assistants share infrastructure and make each other better.

• Architect and build production ML systems for race strategy optimization, including live data integration, real-time inference, and decision support during races
• Develop predictive models for tire degradation, fuel strategy, traffic management, and pit window optimization
• Create tools that reduce decision-making time from hours to minutes while improving decision quality
• Ensure systems perform reliably under race-day conditions with appropriate fallbacks
• Design the ML infrastructure that connects strategy tools, pit crew analytics, and engineering AI assistants into a coherent platform
• Own integration of external partner outputs (computer vision specialists, academic collaborators) into internal ML systems
• Build data pipelines that ingest live NASCAR data feeds and internal telemetry
• Establish ML ops practices for model deployment, monitoring, and iteration

• Provide technical direction for ML initiatives, including code reviews and architectural decisions
• Work directly with race engineers, strategists, and pit crew coach to translate domain expertise into ML solutions
• Mentor junior ML engineer and contribute to team technical growth
• Participate in 5-6 race weekends per year for live testing and validation

• Strong foundation in time-series forecasting, optimization algorithms, and real-time inference
• Experience architecting ML platforms—systems thinking, not just point solutions
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, Tensor Flow)
• Experience with SQL and data pipeline development
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Sage Maker, Lambda)
• Proficiency with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows

• 5+ years building production ML systems (not just prototypes—systems that shipped and were used)
• MS in Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Track record of owning projects from conception through deployment and iteration
• Experience translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
• Proven ability to work independently with clear objectives but autonomy on execution

• Experience in motorsports, sports analytics (F1, NFL, MLB, Premier League), autonomous vehicles, or logistics optimization
• Background integrating external partner outputs into internal systems
• Track record of mentoring junior engineers (even without formal management responsibility)
• Experience with real-time systems and race-day or game-day decision support
• Familiarity with data visualization for engineering and operations teams
