LEGACY MOTOR CLUB is seeking a dynamic and strategic
Director of Communications
to lead all communications, media relations, and brand storytelling efforts. This individual will be responsible for shaping the voice of the team, managing its public image, and creating integrated communication strategies that elevate our drivers, partners, and the LEGACY MOTOR CLUB brand both on and off the track.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the team’s brand, business goals, and NASCAR’s competitive landscape.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media, shaping proactive and reactive messaging.
- Partner with leadership on executive and crisis communications.
- Conducting quality control on all communications
- Manage all press outreach, interview requests, and media opportunities for drivers, owners, and key executives.
- Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and official statements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with motorsports, business, and lifestyle media outlets.
- Oversee the development of compelling written, video, and digital content that drives engagement across earned, owned, and shared platforms.
- Collaborate with social/digital teams to ensure consistent brand messaging and tone across all channels.
- Support creative storytelling that highlights drivers, race day experiences, sponsors, and community initiatives.
- Lead communications planning for race weekends, fan engagement events, sponsor activations, and corporate announcements.
- Work closely with marketing and partnership teams to provide communication support for sponsor storytelling and hospitality programs.
- Ensure all company materials have consistent, positive messaging and branding
- Manage communications staff, interns, and contractors as needed.
- Oversee media training for drivers and team representatives.
- Track KPIs, reporting communications results to leadership and partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in sports communications, motorsports/NASCAR preferred.
- Proven track record of managing PR campaigns, media relations, and executive communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with shifting priorities.
- Experience in crisis communications and reputation management.
- Knowledge of NASCAR, motorsports media, and sports culture strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel extensively, including weekends, throughout the racing season.
- Show examples of high-level written work.
- Highly strategic yet hands-on communicator.
- Strong relationship builder with media, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Creative, proactive, and adaptable problem-solver.
- Team-first mentality with a passion for racing and storytelling.
