Role Description

The Weekend Hospice RN is a full-time, Field position covering areas around the Wilkes/Surry/Alleghany another position is available for the areas surrounding Winston-Salem in NC, providing direct nursing care and support to hospice patients and their families. This role includes performing comprehensive assessments, administering medications and treatments, monitoring symptoms, and coordinating individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary hospice team.

The RN will educate patients and caregivers on disease processes, comfort-focused care, and safe practices in the home or facility setting. Responsibilities also include accurate documentation, adherence to regulatory and agency standards, participation in case conferences, and effective communication with physicians, team members, and family caregivers. The Weekend Hospice RN will promote dignity, comfort, and quality of life for patients in end-of-life care while supporting family members through the hospice journey.

Qualifications
  • Strong clinical foundation in Nursing and Medicine, with the ability to deliver safe, evidence-based care.
  • Experience or training in Palliative Care and end-of-life care, focusing on pain and symptom management.
  • Demonstrated skills in Home Care and Direct Patient Care, including patient and family education in home or facility settings.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina, in good standing.
  • Previous hospice, home health, or acute care nursing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work weekend schedules reliably, manage time effectively, and respond to changing patient needs.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to culturally sensitive, nondiscriminatory care.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally to patient locations as needed.
