Shelburne Middle School is seeking applicants for a full-time Behavior Specialist position for the 2026-27 school year in the Alternative Education classroom.

This role supports all students and staff in delivering interventions and services designed to address mental health, emotional, and behavioral issues that hinder learning in the Alternative Education classroom.

• Directly implement and support school staff in developing and executing behavior support plans and interventions for special education and general education students as necessary.
• Assist the BCBA in the development of behavior plans and support teachers and staff members in implementing those plans.
• Assist the BCBA and teachers in implementing evidence‑based behavior support strategies in the classroom.
• Collaborate with school staff to promote an inclusive educational climate that facilitates social/emotional learning, student success, and academic achievement.
• Work directly with students who need behavior support and provide support for teachers and staff working with such students.
• Assist the BCBA in conducting assessments, collecting, and analyzing data in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
• Conduct preference assessments directly with students.
• Work with teachers and other staff members to model effective behavioral and instructional programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in psychology, education, social work, counseling, mental health, or related fields. Other educational attainment levels will be considered depending on experience and relevant training.
• BCBA or BCaBA credential preferred.
• Minimum of two years of direct student behavior support and/or supporting educational teams preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of principles and practices of general child behavior support and intervention techniques.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for effective collaboration with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
• Registered Behavior Technician certification required, or completion of RBT certification within the first 90 days of employment.
