Responsibilities

Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is actively seeking a certified Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher in our on-campus school, Liberty Point Academy.

Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley -- a region best known for its natural beauty -- in the charming city of Staunton, Virginia. We provide trauma‑informed psychiatric residential treatment to adolescent males who are experiencing complex emotional, behavioral, and educational difficulties. Our programs are specifically designed for youth with psychiatric disorders and co‑occurring intellectual disabilities.

We also specialize in working with young men who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. We are a 42‑bed facility with a program that prepares these young men for return to a home, a less restrictive environment, or to independent living. Our primary focus is on encouraging constructive change and personal growth, learning positive ways to get appropriate attention, improving behavior choices, developing a sense of responsibility for actions, learning problem‑solving skills, and developing thinking patterns that support positive relationships.

Work days are Monday thru Friday. Salary is competitive and commensurate to education and years of experience. This is a year‑round teaching position.

$5,000.00 sign‑on bonus for fully licensed Teacher; $2,500 sign‑on bonus for license‑eligible! This opportunity is full‑time and offers full benefits, generous paid time off, and competitive pay.

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
• Hold a current Virginia or out‑of‑state teaching license in SPED or General Curriculum K‑12, or Technical Professional License (see VAC
  20‑23‑50), or hold a Technical Professional provisional license with plans to fulfill the requirements to obtain a Technical Professional License
• At least three years of experience in a classroom situation, preferred
• Hold a current VA Driver's License, preferred

Job Duties & Requirements:

• Assist in providing supervision, instruction, and evaluation of students in vocational areas such as gardening, drafting, woodworking, landscaping, horticulture, auto detailing, auto maintenance, cooking, custodial maintenance, and construction.
• Develop and implement projects and activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to learn.
• Provide pre‑vocational training to enhance vocational skills among assigned students; explain a variety of vocational functions, tasks and activities; assist students by answering questions and providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude, and general guidance.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
