ResponsibilitiesThe System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of computer hardware, software and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to Commonwealth policies, standards, and guidelines. Key responsibilities include systems administration engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development for continual innovation. Tasks include installing or rebuilding servers, configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories and storage in accordance with standards and project/requisite requirements;
performing daily system monitoring, verifying integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes; reviewing system and application logs; verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups; performing regular security monitoring for intrusions; operating daily backups and regular file archival and purge; creating, changing, and deleting user accounts; providing Tier III/other support; investigating and troubleshooting issues; diagnosing and recovering from hardware or software failures;
coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies; applying OS patches and upgrades and upgrading administrative tools and utilities; configuring/add new services; upgrading and configuring system software for GIS infrastructure or Asset Management applications; maintaining operational, configuration or other procedures; performing periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning; performing ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization; and configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions.

PayThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
