Program Manager – Daikin Applied (Hybrid, Staunton, VA)

The Program Manager will lead programs and projects within the Engineering Program Management Department focused on new product development. The role supports and executes strategic initiatives to drive innovation speed, engineering effectiveness and productivity, and achieves product roadmaps and profitability goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead new product development engineering teams, partnering with multiple functions to define, develop, and deploy strategic initiatives and/or product roadmaps that maximize business value and profitability.
  • Work closely with business leaders to plan future project implementation schedules, define projects/programs, manage the portfolio, and provide input on overall strategy.
  • Define, maintain, and monitor program and project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility.
  • Focus efforts to meet strategic goals and the program’s specific tactical goals.
  • Rigorously manage scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Ensure functional commitments are achieved with a strong understanding of Product Development Engineering deliverables within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Understand key engineering product requirements and deliverables: PVSR, DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R.
  • Successfully manage relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide a centralized, single point of contact for programs and projects.
  • Validate financial forecasts and provide ongoing reconciliation of resources and related project expenditures.
  • Resolve problems in assigned programs using innovative solutions and interface with others in the company, report and escalation to executive management as needed.
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities, identify and resolve conflicts, manage project dependencies and constraints, and develop contingency plans where required.
  • Prepare and present periodic status reports on assigned programs and projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience
  • Microsoft Project experience
  • Moderate to highly competent in engineering management, communication, interpersonal soft skills, situational awareness, self‑organization, bias for action, drive for results, and adaptability.
  • Program/project leadership, coaching/mentoring, meeting management, team motivation, facilitation skills, conflict management & resolution, problem‑solving facilitation, courage and conscience, presentation and reporting capabilities, influence without authority, negotiation (win/win), organizational awareness, process knowledge, phase gate, business processes.
  • New product development process and deliverable knowledge.
  • Lean product development practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Current PMP Certification
  • HVAC industry experience
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience
  • Process knowledge: NPI processing, risk management, project QCCD management.
  • Agile methods and tools (PaRM prework, sprint planning/backlog refinement, project schedule facilitation).
  • Project/Program Deliverables Knowledge: requirements management, prototype scheduling & build process, key documents PVSR, DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R, RPM integration & resource reporting, Microsoft Project to Azure Dev Ops integration, POL Embedded Features/Capabilities, SharePoint, Storm Board, Mural, Miro, Agile System.

Compensation

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $100,800 to $171,700 plus a 15% bonus in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
