Grounds & Park Facility Supervisor

This position is a full-time position and classified as non-exempt on the County Pay and Classification Plan.

The starting salary is $58,090 annually. The County offers an excellent benefits package to include paid time off, Virginia Retirement System, health, dental, and life insurance. This position works a regular schedule of M-F 7am-3:30pm, while rotating on-call between the months of May through October, and working special events as needed.

Under the general direction of the Director of Facilities Management, this position supervises the maintenance and repair of all County owned easements and properties, with an emphasis on parks and recreational amenities as related to mowing, landscaping, beautification, tree trimming, trash removal, custodial services, snow removal, and special event preparation. The position includes general building maintenance activities of electrical, mechanical, heating, plumbing and carpentry work, assisting the Building Maintenance Supervisor, as needed.

• Safety
  – Considerable knowledge in occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Routine Maintenance – carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, concrete work, welding, painting, mowing, trimming, light tree work, flooring, snow removal, preventive maintenance as well as other associated general maintenance and equipment maintenance task.
• Equipment Operation – Hand tools, power tools, vehicles, skid steer, excavating equipment, trailers, wood working equipment, welders, plasma cutter, fork lift, mowers, trimmers, bucket truck.
• Communication – The candidate must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and citizens.
• Management and Organizational - Plans, organizes, schedules and assigns work. Evaluates employee work performance. Keeps records of facility repairs, tools and equipment and assist with department budgets. Manages ongoing service contracts.

Applicant shall have any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school education. Thorough knowledge in the task and equipment listed within the essential functions is required. Previous maintenance supervisory experience preferred. The candidate must have the ability to perform manual labor for extended periods as well as strong management skills including leadership and supervisory skills, scheduling, problem solving and decision making, planning and organizing, fiscal stewardship, adaptability, flexibility and time management.

Must have experience with computers and related office software such as MS Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook). Must possess and maintain a valid VA driver license and have the ability to obtain VA Commercial Applicators license for applying pesticides.
