Position Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented Laser CNC Machine Set-Up Operator to join our production team. This role primarily focuses on operating and setting up laser-machining equipment
, ensuring optimal machine performance, part quality, and safe operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC laser systems and a strong understanding of precision manufacturing processes.
The Laser CNC Machine Set-Up Operator is responsible for selecting and loading programs, preparing tools and materials, performing test runs, monitoring ongoing production, and troubleshooting machine or process issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities:Laser Machine Setup & Operation
- Set up and operate CNC-controlled laser cutting and laser machining equipment for assigned production jobs.
- Secure raw materials or work pieces onto laser machines using appropriate fixtures or clamps.
- Select and verify correct programs, settings, and parameters for each job.
- Choose appropriate tools, lenses, or consumables required for laser machining.
- Load and verify CNC programs to ensure they match job specifications.
- Set and adjust tool offsets and machine parameters for precise laser cutting or engraving.
- Perform test cuts to validate setup accuracy and program functionality.
- Adjust machine settings, focus, power levels, and speeds as needed to achieve required tolerances.
- Inspect laser-produced parts using measurement tools to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
- Make necessary adjustments to maintain consistency and reduce scrap.
- Monitor laser machine operations throughout production runs.
- Identify and address issues related to cutting quality, alignment, tool wear, or machine performance.
- Escalate complex issues to CNC Programmers, Engineers, or Supervisors as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure machines remain in optimal condition.
- Document setups, adjustments, tool changes, and any production or machine issues encountered.
- Collaborate with CNC Programmers, Engineers, machinists, and Supervisors to support production goals.
- Clearly communicate job status, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including PPE requirements and laser safety standards.
- Report hazards, near-misses, or equipment concerns promptly.
- Experience operating CNC or laser machining equipment required; CNC laser experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles.
- Familiarity with quality inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
