Position Overview
Our Staunton, VA facility is looking for a Press Operator Assistant for our Printing department. This position will be responsible for assisting the Press Operator to ensure the press operates safely and the product quality meets customer expectations while performance goals are achieved.
Primary Responsibilities- Assist in the operation of a multi-unit Sheet Fed Press.
- Set up and operate coating unit.
- Troubleshoot quality and press issues and resolve them.
- Keep Press Department Leads and Manager informed of needed machine repairs.
- Respond to Pressman with any special requests during press make-ready, monitor press feed during press runs.
- Responsible for filling all press chemicals, loading inks, putting away inks when done, and refilling process inks on press shelf when needed.
- Understand the importance of environmental responsibilities and proper disposal of press waste.
- Lead crew when needed.
- Remove any full AQ/Fountain solution flush water drums from press to non-hazardous waste staging area.
- Learn how to achieve and maintain proper ink and water balance.
- Assist the pressman in any maintenance of the press.
- Follow all company safety requirements.
- Comply with all company rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as required to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the company.
Skills and Qualifications
- Operate hand jack and electric pallet jack.
- Operate forklift truck.
- Operate aerator.
- Understand Job Jacket information.
- Complete necessary paperwork.
- Demonstrate a level of mechanical aptitude necessary to succeed in the position.
