Job Duties- Work part‑time LPN shifts on 1st and 2nd shift, with 4, 8, or 12‑hour options on weekends (Friday – Monday) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7 a.m.–3 p.m., or 3 p.m.–11 p.m.; minimum 64 hours per month.
- Work 4 hours on either Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day, plus 4 hours on another holiday (e.g., the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve or Day).
- Provide direct patient care in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital for a specific patient population, following care and treatment policies and procedures.
- Deliver quality care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Give work direction to PNA staff under RN supervision.
- Maintain accountability in a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment.
- Create healthy interpersonal interactions on adult acute admissions, geriatric, and extended rehabilitation units.
- Observe and report observations regarding interventions, treatments, behaviors, and patients’ physical and emotional wellbeing.
- Document and communicate care activities.
- Use specialized training to promote mental wellness and recovery.
- Prioritize time to meet patients’ needs; provide direct patient care duties as assigned and after medication administration.
- Implement all individual treatment plans as written.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and document patient education and responses according to policy and procedure.
- Paid shift differential: 2nd shift weekdays $3.50/hr and weekend/holiday $3.50/hr.
- Current LPN licence eligible for use in Virginia.
- Knowledge of illness and treatment modalities, including medication administration.
- Ability to implement nursing care plans and guide other staff.
- Ability to delegate and supervise nursing staff; effective written, verbal, and sign communication.
- Capacity to participate in interdisciplinary teams; assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Willingness to work overtime (potential 16‑hour shifts) during staffing emergencies in a 24‑hour/7‑day psychiatric setting.
- Complete all annual competency training, including TOVA III with physical restraints.
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers (American Heart Association).
- Demonstrate knowledge of recovery/trauma‑informed care.
- Psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
- Veteran or spouse of a veteran.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
