LPN Part Time

Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse – Part Time

Location: Western State Hospital, Clifton, VA

Pay: $36.50/hour plus shift differentials (2nd shift weekdays $3.50/hr, weekend/holiday $3.50/hr)

• Provide direct patient care in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital, including medication administration, physical and emotional support, and treatment plan implementation.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team with nurses, physicians, and other staff.
• Supervise and provide direction to Patient Nursing Assistants under RN supervision.
• Maintain safety, accountability, and a therapeutic environment for patients on adult acute admissions, geriatric, and extended rehabilitation units.
• Observe and document patient behavior, responses, and intervention outcomes; report findings to the team.
• Use specialized training to promote mental wellness and recovery for the patient population.
• Prioritize time to meet patient needs and complete assigned nursing duties, including medication deliveries, after completion of multi‑shift duties.

• Current Virginia LPN license.
• Knowledge of illness, treatment modalities, and medication administration.
• Ability to implement nursing care plans and supervise nursing staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in interdisciplinary team participation, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Ready and able to work overtime, potentially up to 16 hours, to address staffing emergencies in a 24‑h/7‑d setting.
• Completion of all annual competency training, including TOVA III with physical restraints.
• Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
• Demonstrated knowledge of trauma‑informed and recovery‑focused care.

• Available to work 4, 8, or 12‑hour shifts on 1st and 2nd shift.
• Minimum of 64 hours per month; must work 4 hours on Thanksgiving or Christmas and an additional 4 hours on another holiday.
• Shifts may be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7 a.m. – 3 p.m., or 3 p.m. – 11 p.m.
