A Psychiatric Hospital is seeking a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner for locum tenens coverage.

The facility is located in Staunton, Virginia.

This assignment is for an NP/PA to provide primary care support in an inpatient psychiatric setting for 3 months, with the option to extend. Credentialing takes about 3 weeks, and the schedule is Monday Friday, 8 Sign up or sign in for contact information p.m., with no call. Patient volume is typically under 15 per day, though the provider will eventually cross-cover multiple units.

Patients are acute psychiatric cases, often brought in from the community, nursing homes, or ERs. Candidates must hold a VA license, DEA, and have at least 3 years of experience (5 preferred), ideally with psychiatric populations. The provider will work alongside full triage staff, psychiatric providers, and other primary care clinicians. While some patients may be restrained, this is managed by psychiatric staff, not the primary care provider.

The facility includes five acute psych units and six long-term units.
