Position Purpose
Constructs, maintains, and tests electrical systems and components. Uses measuring and diagnostic tools to test and modify electronic parts. Supports engineering in new builds and maintains the needs of existing equipment. Ensures systems and components meet established specifications. Requires enrollment in an apprenticeship and/or formal training program in the area of specialty.
Position SummaryThe Electronics Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electronic systems and equipment. This role ensures all work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and quality standards while supporting both new system builds and ongoing operational needs.
Key Responsibilities Installation & Maintenance- Install, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic systems, equipment, and components.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic malfunctions.
- Use testing equipment and diagnostic tools to efficiently identify and resolve issues.
- Conduct functional tests to ensure systems operate in accordance with specifications.
- Calibrate and adjust components to meet required performance standards.
- Perform quality checks to verify installations meet established requirements.
- Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Follow technical documentation to perform accurate installations and repairs.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and system modifications.
- Install and connect wiring, cables, and electrical components in accordance with specifications.
- Organize and secure wiring to ensure safety and prevent damage.
- Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment used in electrical and electronic work.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on electrical and electronic systems.
- Identify and address potential issues before they lead to malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Document changes, upgrades, and modifications to electrical and electronic systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to address complex issues.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Participate in the planning and execution of upgrades and modifications to electrical and electronic systems.
- Implement improvements to enhance system performance.
- Conduct quality checks to verify that electrical and electronic installations meet established standards.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.
- Pursue additional training or certifications to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Handle and dispose of electronic waste in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Follow guidelines for the safe disposal of hazardous materials.
