Purpose:
The Communication Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid.
A groundman's responsible for performing support tasks for fiber cable construction or repair.
- Secure the safety of yourself and others
- Assist fellow line-workers in meeting project goals
- Join storm restoration efforts in times of need
- Operate vehicles and equipment
- Continuing training to improve technical and leadership skills
- Work safely while performing new fiber cable construction or maintenance work
- Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order
- Perform rigorous physical labor
- Receive and follow directions
- Will work outside,frequently in inclement weather
- Does all other related work to complete the job

- While performing the responsibilities of this job,team-members require talking or listening. The jobfrequentlyrequires the team-member to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The team-memberfrequentlyrequires performing rigorous physical labor; sit; climb different typesof structures (wood, steel); balances; and stoop, kneels, crouches or crawls.
Team membersfrequentlylift or move uptoor in-excess of 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depthperceptionand ability to adjust focus.
While performing the responsibilities of this job,team-membersmayfrequentlyexperience fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanicalpartsand vibration.
Team members are occasionally exposed to a variety ofextreme conditions atconstructionsites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. We perform powerline construction work outside, and it subjects us to diverse weather conditions.
