Position Overview:

Western State Hospital is seeking a part time/wage PCT Transportation Operator for the Social Work Department to transport and assist patients during visits to the clubhouse or trips into the community for discharge and discharge related activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely transport patients to and from the facility for clubhouse trips, trial passes, discharge, any other discharge related trips
  • Ensure that patients are securely and comfortably seated and safely fastened in the vehicle
  • Monitor patients’ behavior during transport to ensure they are calm and secure
  • Remain attentive and alert while transporting patients, ensuring a safe and stress-free environment
  • Utilize de‑escalation techniques as needed to ensure patient safety and prevent behavioral emergencies
  • Communicate any necessary patient details, incidents or concerns during the trip to the Social Work Director or designee in a timely manner
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Additional Considerations
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Healthcare, psychiatric or patient transport role
  • Veteran or veteran spouse
  • Bilingual
