Overview
Local government seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Municipal Court Clerk and Accounting Specialist to support the efficient operation of the Municipal Court and the Finance Department. This position serves a dual role, dedicating approximately half time to municipal court administration and half time to finance and accounting support.
The successful candidate will perform a wide range of confidential, technical, and customer-focused duties requiring accuracy, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to public service. This position plays a key role in ensuring court operations, financial records, and front office services are conducted in a professional, compliant, and responsive manner.
Qualifications- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- At least three (3) years of experience in an administrative, secretarial, or clerical position that includes providing customer service and using Microsoft Office products
- Possession of or ability to obtain LEDS (Law Enforcement Data Systems) certification within 90 days of employment.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Notary Public commission within 90 days of employment.
Preferred (Not Required):
- Spanish language proficiency (differential offered)
- Experience with Caselle software
Job Duties – MUNICIPAL COURT
- Attend Municipal Court sessions as scheduled and perform a variety of court-related tasks
- Provide skilled clerical work and process court transactions with a high degree of public contact. Prepare accurate and timely reports. Act as a notary public. Tactfully answer a variety of questions about court transactions
- Coordinate court matters with the judge, defendants, attorneys, police, and other levels of the criminal justice system
- Docket traffic citations and misdemeanors issued by the Police Department and other agencies citing into the Municipal Court. Document decisions in case files using the computerized court system.
Job Duties – ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
- Create invoices and maintain accounts receivable records; monitor payment of accounts, prepare reports, and communicate with customers
- Coordinate, organize, reconcile, and record revenues from all City departments daily as they are submitted
- Perform various accounting tasks to include preparing deposit slips, counting cash, and reconciling daily activity reports
- Assist other departments as needed
- Employer conducts a background check
- Work is performed in an office environment (not a remote work opportunity)
- $47,820 to $66,138, depending on experience and qualifications
- Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Vacation, holidays, sick leave, health insurance choice of Regence (HRA VEBA employer paid) or Kaiser (85% employer paid), retirement after 6 months, life insurance, and long-term disability
