About the PositionFusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Stayton, Oregon. The role provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting including assessment, treatment, and collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure patient‑centered care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
Required Qualifications- One year’s recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
- STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC)
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting. This role requires strong clinical skills in obstetrics, critical thinking, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics.
Essential Work Functions- Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques
- Prepare equipment and aid physicians during labor, delivery, and examination of patients
- Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
- Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
- Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
- Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Physical Abilities – Able to remain in a stationary position, move equipment up to 100 lbs, push, pull, and bend
- Interpersonal Skills – Able to work effectively with a variety of personnel and maintain a professional attitude
- Technical/Motor Skills – Able to perform fine manipulation, assist with procedures, and use department equipment
- Mental Requirements – Able to handle frequent contact with the public, meet deadlines under pressure, work with minimal supervision and manage irregular activity schedules while maintaining concentration
