Staff Accountant

About the Opportunity

Join our accounting team as a Staff Accountant, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position is essential to our collaborative team environment, contributing to the timely completion of financial reports, reconciliations, and other critical accounting functions that drive our company's success and operational effectiveness.

• Prepare and maintain general and subsidiary ledger journal entries and reconciliations
• Execute month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Ensure all financial records comply with accounting standards and company policies

• File sales, use, and franchise tax returns
• Reconcile bank accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Research and analyze financial trends
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records
• Assist with accounts payable and work order accounting as needed

• Provide documentation and information to auditors during audit processes
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements
• Apply company policies and procedures with sound judgment

• Collaborate with team members to improve financial processes and enhance efficiency
• Support special projects and additional duties as assigned

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and make recommendations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred:

• Knowledge of electric utility accounting
• Experience in a cooperative

The target hourly range for this role is $39.34 - $47.89 and will reflect the selected candidate's experience, skills, and education.
