Job Description
Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Instruction and lead faculty, the Teaching Assistant I will work in concert with faculty to provide quality learning experiences for students and help with the operations of the program courses.
Primary Responsibilities- Organize classroom materials for instruction, inventory program materials, monitor supplies, and prepare course materials for instructors.
- Receive materials for cleaning and organization post‑course.
- Complete checklists of course prep materials for each instructor as needed.
- Complete hourly timesheets as required and inform program personnel of equipment, resource, or material deficiencies.
- Co‑facilitate education lessons, manage gear maintenance, and participate in classroom and field sessions; some overnight field work may be required.
- Maintain a part‑time schedule limited to 28 hours per CMC workweek (Saturday through Friday).
Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples may include a associate degree and one year related work experience, or a high‑school/GED and three years related work experience, or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the functions of the position.
One year as a teaching assistant or similar experience, administrative and/or project coordination with related coursework experience preferred.
Special Skills or AbilitiesTeaching Assistants are expected to have a basic understanding of the language acquisition skills taught by the instructors and strategies to work with students. The position should enjoy working directly with students, embrace a lively work environment, and be consistently punctual and reliable. Exhibit exceptional verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism. Organize and prioritize work while exercising flexibility, teamwork, and humor.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Compensation and BenefitsThe hiring pay rate is $24.52 per hour, with the rate set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Minimum Qualifications- Engage learners with activities and tasks to promote their understanding of content.
- Communicate with learners about progress toward goals.
- Assist faculty with designing and facilitating learning activities to engage groups.
- Gather student information paperwork and submit to instructor.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Position has no supervisory responsibility.
Special Conditions of EmploymentSuccessful completion of a background check including a motor vehicle records report is required. Incumbents must adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned. Evening hours may be expected.
Working ConditionsConstant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason, analyze, and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
