Special Education Athletic Support Paraprofessional

Steamboat Springs High School is seeking a Special Education Athletic Support Paraprofessional for the Cross Country Team season from 08/18/2026-10/31/2026. Steamboat Springs School District (SSSD) is consistently awarded "Accredited with Distinction" by the Colorado Department of Education and ranked as a top school district in the state. Our schools offer curriculum and academic programs designed to give students the skills they need to compete in college and the workplace.

SSSD's talented team prepares Steamboat's students to succeed in an ever-changing world, and be able to apply essential academic skills and knowledge in various content areas. Pay $26.11 per hour. This is a temporary, hourly, season-only position. Not benefit eligible.

Job Summary:

  • Help the student athlete prepare for practice with clothing and meeting location
  • Communicate with coaches of any special considerations for the day
  • Communicate with coaches about absences, change to schedule, workout plan, etc (along with parents)
  • Help in connecting the student with other teammates so that they feel connected and
  • Accompany the student athlete to the team meeting and then to the specific training squad for the day
  • If the para travels with the student to a competition, then they will accompany the student for the entirety of the event

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to maintain discipline with large groups of students
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, staff, co-workers, administrators and parents
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Physical Demands:
