Physical Therapist – East Side
REPORTS TOSpecial Education Director
FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVESTo enhance and maximize the student's physical performance through therapeutic intervention and integration of intervention into the child's environment toward preventing disability, relieving pain, developing, improving, or restoring sensory/motor function.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Identify children with deviations in physical, developmental, gross/perceptual and functional motor areas that may affect their educational program and provide direct service as appropriate.
- Guide therapy in determining appropriate goals, selecting treatment methods, and measuring effectiveness of intervention.
- Use observation, standardized and non-standardized techniques as tools.
- Participate in the Special Education teams as appropriate.
- Consult with parents, educational personnel, medical agencies, physicians to implement program planning, adapt physical environment, and integrate treatment into the child's environment (classroom and home).
- Train and support Physical Therapist Assistants, paraprofessionals, and teachers on how to carry out program activities.
- A degree from an accredited school in physical therapy.
- Experience in an educational setting is recommended.
As a hard‑to‑fill position in a dispersed geographic region, the Physical Therapist requires flexibility. There is potential for a hybrid workflow for the approximately 25‑30 hours per month. The Physical Therapist serves students in the BOCES three member districts:
East Grand, West Grand and North Park. Mileage reimbursement and some paid travel time are included per NW BOCES policies.
- Compensation is $60 to $70 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Colorado PERA defined benefit pension plan – all employees are required to contribute to this plan instead of Social Security.
Paid time off including sick and personal leave, in accordance with written policies available on the NW BOCES website.
