RMYC: BLM KFO Wildlife Intern

Internships are designed to engage youth and young adults in valuable work experiences within natural resources management agencies and non-profits. Internships allow participants to consider or advance careers and education in natural resources. RMYC provides support to all internships while the intern works under the daily supervision of the hosting public lands management agency, or non-profit. Partners include the United States Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, the Colorado Youth Corps Association, and a growing circle of agency and non-profit partners.

Member Duties :
The intern will assist with the planning and implementation of wet meadow restoration in North Park Restoration Landscape including serving with volunteers to install Zeedyk rock structures, willow structures and other process-based restoration techniques. Monitor Hebron Waterfowl area, including water level reports and wildlife surveys. You will assist wildlife biologists with sensitive plant species and land health surveys. Monitor Junction Butte wetland and manage water levels to support wildlife use.

Complete amphibian surveys and written reports and raptor and Goshawk surveys, collect data using Field Maps. Complete fence surveys and help with fence removal or repair projects. Field time is within semi-remote areas with varied topography, vegetation, and weather conditions. This position is suitable for people aiming for an undergraduate or graduate degree in Wildlife, Restoration, or related degree paths.

Flexibility for scheduling changes due to weather is essential.
