Eagle-Holy Cross RD Wilderness Intern

Internships allow participants to consider or advance careers and education in natural resources. RMYC provides support to all internships while the intern works under the daily supervision of the hosting public lands management agency, or non-profit. Partners include the United States Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, the Colorado Youth Corps Association, and a growing circle of agency and non-profit partners.

Member Duties :
This position will serve as part of the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District Wilderness Crew, led primarily by a Forest Service Lead Wilderness Ranger. The primary duty of this Wilderness Ranger position is to provide information to the public about Leave No Trace and wilderness regulations and assist with a variety of trail maintenance and projects. This position requires overnight camping in remote locations for up to 10 days, but typically service weeks are 4 days/3 nights (Friday-Monday) of backpacking.

It also requires extensive hiking (up to 12 miles per day), strenuous labor, heavy backpacks, and frequent public contact. Service duties will consist of a variety of trail maintenance tasks and public contac.t
